This page contains information for non-uniformed adult volunteers.
The Troop runs with parent volunteers in various roles and capacities. Here is a description of each. At the end of the page, you will find information on the forms needed for each role.
Drivers: Your help is needed in driving the Scouts to outing - day trips and overnight camping.
Chaperons: Your help is needed in this role to accompany the Scouts at overnight outings. The outings may be as short as one night, or as long as seven nights (e.g. summer camp). Chaperons normally drive as well, since they are staying back. Non-chaperon drivers would need to make two round trips - one for drop off and one for pick up.
Troop Committee members: The Troop Committee's job is to carry out the Troop business. Troop 125 is a boy led Troop. However, there are areas where the Scouts need guidance or help. Troop Committee meets once a month.
Merit Badge Counselors: You would share your expertise in an area (or more than one areas) with the Scouts in the Troop and help them earn the merit badges.
This page lists all the records the Troop needs from adults in various roles. Please scroll down for a brief description of each.

YPT- https://www.scouting.org/training/youth-protection/
AB506 Volunteer Process includes four steps
Mandated reporter training - https://mandatedreporterca.com/training/volunteers
Follow the remaining steps mentioned here
Online registration
This is for the protection of the Scouts as well as yourself. It takes no more than an hour and a half once every two years.
Please complete the training if you plan to be involved in any way with Troop 125.
You do not need to be a registered member of Boy Scouts of America to complete the YPT. However, you do need to create a free account with my.Scouting. More information on the YPT is available here.
Once done, you will be provided a certificate on the screen, as well as by e-mail. It will show your name, BSA Member ID/# and training expiration date.
Please forward the certificate e-mail to the Training Chair (contact information)
If you (the parent) do not have a Scoutbook account, please follow the instructions found here to create it and get linked to your son's information (this will allow the Training Coordinator to ensure through Scoutbook-BSA sync that BSA sees the same information that the Troop has).
AB506 Volunteering process
AB506 requires all Employees, registered Adult Volunteers, and regular Volunteers (age 18 or older) who have more than 16 hours a month ( or 32 hours per year) of contact with a youth to complete a Live Scan background check
Volunteers leaders must complete the 2hr online Mandated reporter training, upload their certificate, complete the background consent form and the Live Scan Fingerprinting
For more information please visit the GGAC site . If there are any issues with the AB506 process, check out the FAQ section in the link mentioned.
These forms are required if you go on any Scouting activity other than a day trip. Examples are overnight camp, and summer camp.
Adults who have provided these forms in the past will be requested an updated form annually in early January.
For more information, please refer to this page.
This form is required if you go on any outing longer than 72 hours (e.g. summer camp)
This form requires a medical exam. Please schedule it well ahead of the outing.
For more information, please refer to this page.
If you plan to drive the Scouts to any outing (and we sincerely hope you do), BSA requires that the Troop has some basic information about your vehicle and auto insurance. Please provide the following to the Transportation Coordinator (contact information):
Copy of the driver's license
Copy of the auto insurance card (look for "Automobile Liability Insurance" on BSA website)
Most insurance companies let you print a proof of insurance card online; this should be sufficient
It should show your name, vehicle you will be driving, insurance company name, policy number, expiration date and a statement that shows it is sufficient per California law. You do not need to share your coverage amounts.
Vehicle information: Make, model, license plate, and how many Scouts (including your son) it can accommodate
